Preorders & Allocations Policy
Preorders, Explained — Clearly and Honestly
Preorders help us plan inventory, schedule events, and make sure players and collectors have access to upcoming releases. They also come with real limitations that aren’t always visible from the customer side.
This page explains how preorders work at Final Boss, what customers are responsible for, and why we sometimes limit quantities or availability.
Preorder Rules (Quick Overview)
All preorders must be placed in-store
Preorders are paid in full at the time of order
Preorder items are held for two (2) weeks after official release
Unclaimed preorders will be refunded as in-store credit and released for public sale
Preorder quantities may be limited per customer / household
These rules help ensure fair access and prevent limited items from sitting unclaimed.
How Preorders Work
When you place a preorder with Final Boss:
Your payment secures your spot based on our expected allocation
Your product is reserved specifically for you upon release
Preorders are managed conservatively to reduce the risk of cancellations
When a preorder item arrives:
We may attempt to contact customers using the information provided, but responsibility for follow-up and pickup remains with the customer.
It is the customer’s responsibility to:
Track release dates
Pick up preorders within the two-week window
Ensure contact information is accurate and up to date
Allocations & Availability
Preorders are directly affected by allocations, which are determined by distributors and manufacturers.
Allocations can:
Change after preorders are placed
Be reduced without advance notice
Vary by region, store size, or distributor availability
Because of this, Final Boss takes a conservative approach to preorders:
We limit quantities to avoid overpromising
We prioritize accuracy over hype
We prefer smaller preorder windows rather than mass cancellations
This protects customers from uncertainty and disappointment.
Allocation Reductions & Cancellations
In rare cases, allocation reductions may impact our ability to fulfill all preorders.
If this occurs:
Final Boss will contact affected customers as soon as possible
A resolution will be offered based on product availability and store policy
(Final handling details may vary depending on the situation and will be communicated clearly at the time)
We do everything we can to avoid this scenario, but it is an industry reality with limited releases.
Note: Final Boss is not responsible for allocation changes made by distributors or manufacturers.
Why Some Products Are Limited
Limited availability isn’t always driven by demand alone. Factors may include:
Print runs and production schedules
Distribution priorities
Regional supply constraints
When products are limited, Final Boss may:
Restrict quantities per customer
Prioritize in-store preorders
Adjust availability as new information becomes available
These decisions are made to maximize access, not to exclude customers.
Pricing Philosophy
Whenever possible, Final Boss prices products at or near MSRP.
We believe fair pricing:
Encourages accessibility
Builds long-term trust
Supports a healthier local game ecosystem
While market prices can fluctuate—especially for high-demand releases—we aim for consistency rather than chasing short-term spikes.
Community Over Hype
A local game store is more than a retail counter. Preorders and event participation help determine what games we’re able to support long-term.
Stronger community engagement allows us to:
Host more events and tournaments
Expand support for specific games
Dedicate more space and product to growing communities
Preorders are one part of a bigger picture—not just a transaction.
Our Commitment
Final Boss is committed to:
Transparent communication
Conservative, responsible preorder practices
Fair and consistent pricing
Supporting players, not just trends
We may not always get everything perfect, but we promise to approach preorders with the long-term health of the community in mind.
